After completing an engineering degree, I started working for a multinational healthcare technology business. But I quickly realised I was more energised by interacting with our clients than working on equipment. It wasn’t long before I was given a shot at sales and promoted to sales specialist.
I was trained and mentored in the art of professional selling and marketing for cutting-edge medical and research equipment to doctors and scientists. I worked in professional sales for 12 years, travelling and presenting in New Zealand and overseas.
In 2006, I was offered a position as managing director with shareholding in a Kiwi-owned healthcare technology company. We bought out a competitor’s business and established 22 laser treatment clinics around the country.
Over 28 years, I’ve owned seven of my own businesses. I’ve successfully governed and expanded businesses through the 1987, 1997 and 2008 financial crises. My other governance experience includes a three-year chairmanship for one of Auckland’s biggest trade organisations, where I effected a major restructure.
I qualified and registered as a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors when I started work as a business success coach in 2015.
As a coach, I’m fortunate to have helped clients from a wide range of industries, including design, law, engineering, construction, education and trade. This diverse experience has enabled my clients to draw on a more varied range of business practices, often enabling us to be more innovative with solutions to their businesses challenges.
What gets me excited is helping business owners and managers be the very best version of themselves.
